A very sensational and painful incident has come to light from Palamu district of Jharkhand. On Saturday, a violent clash broke out between two groups over a land dispute in Rampur village under Chainpur police station area. Within no time the dispute escalated to such an extent that sticks and sticks were used from both sides, there was heavy stone pelting and finally indiscriminate firing from weapons was also done. Due to this fierce firing, a young man died on the spot, while four other people were seriously injured. After this bloody incident, there is an atmosphere of tension in the entire area and the accused are absconding from the police.

As soon as the news of this bloody conflict and massacre was received, local BJP MLA from Daltonganj, Alok Chaurasia immediately reached the hospital. He met the injured patients and inquired about their well-being and then met the bereaved families of the deceased and consoled them.

MLA Alok Chaurasia, while making a scathing attack on the poor law and order situation in Jharkhand, said that the law and order situation in the entire state including Palamu has completely broken down. There is no longer any fear of police and administration action in the minds of criminals. This is the reason why such fearless criminal incidents are continuously happening in the state. He demanded that Palamu Police should investigate this entire matter impartially and arrest the main culprits of the murder as soon as possible and send them behind the bars.

Controversy started due to breaking of wall under construction; 25 people attacked with weapons

Injured Uday Chaudhary, who is fighting for life and death in the hospital, has narrated the entire inside story of the incident. According to the victim, Sushila Kunwar, a resident of the village, was getting a house constructed on her ancestral land. On Saturday morning, around 11:00 am, about 20 to 25 people including Rajendra Singh, Mantu Singh, Badal Singh, Uma Singh from the same village reached there armed with sticks and illegal weapons.

The accused first forcibly broke the wall under construction. When other people of the village gathered there in support of Sushila Kunwar, the accused started attacking them with sticks and firing bullets indiscriminately. In this sudden attack, five people were directly shot, out of which a young man named Sikandar Chaudhary died on the spot. Chainpur SHO Lalji has confirmed that this entire incident happened purely due to a land dispute and the police are continuously raiding possible locations to nab the accused.

Family members blocked Koel river bridge demanding compensation and government job

After this audacious incident in Rampur village, there was anger among the villagers and family members. On Saturday, after the post-mortem of the body, when the family members were returning with the body, they completely blocked the ‘Koyel River Bridge’ with their demands. Due to this traffic jam which lasted for about an hour, long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the road.

The protesting villagers and victim families were mainly making three demands:

  • All the named accused of murder should be arrested immediately.

  • The dependents of deceased Sikandar Chaudhary should get a compensation of Rs 10 lakh from the government.

  • One member of the family should be given a government job as per the qualification.

The villagers lifted the jam only after concrete assurance from the local administration and senior police officers that they would take prompt legal action in the matter and get appropriate compensation under government provisions, after which the police handed over the body to the relatives for the last rites.
