News India Live, Digital Desk: In Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, a minor dispute that started between two parties over DJ playing music during Holi festival quickly turned into a violent clash. This incident of stone pelting and stampede has created tension in the area, after which heavy police force has been deployed.
The ruckus started on the tune of DJ
The incident took place in a rural area of Badaun district, where some youth were dancing while playing DJ on the occasion of Holi.
Beginning with an altercation: People on the other side objected to the sound of the music or the selection of songs. Within no time a heated argument started between the two parties.
Stone pelting and stampede: The matter escalated so much that bricks and stones started being thrown from both sides. The sudden stone pelting led to a stampede at the spot, in which many people including women and children got injured.
An atmosphere of panic in the village, police force deployed
As soon as information about the tension was received, local police and top officials reached the spot.
Converted into cantonment: PAC and heavy police force have been deployed in the village to control the situation.
Flag March: To maintain peace, the police conducted a flag march in the affected area and appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumours.
Identification of miscreants: Police are identifying the stone pelters on the basis of CCTV footage and videos made by local people.
Many people detained, case registered
According to police sources, so far more than a dozen people from both sides have been detained for questioning in this violence case.
Warning of drastic action: The administration has made it clear that anyone who disturbs the peace of the festival will not be spared.
Currents: A case has been registered against the miscreants under various sections of rioting, assault and disturbing peace.
Treatment of the injured continues in the hospital
People injured during stone pelting and stampede have been admitted to the nearby Community Health Center (CHC). At present, there is no news of anyone being seriously injured, but as a precaution, there is still tight police vigil in the village.
