Raja Iqbal Singh in the ground from BJP

Former Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh from BJP and Jayabhagwan Yadav are the candidates for the post of Mayor. Due to the withdrawal of AAP elections and the limited presence of Congress, BJP’s victory in both positions is being decided.

Raja Iqbal Singh said, “The people of Delhi have entrusted us with the responsibility. ‘AAP’ has accepted its defeat. Now we will speed up the stalled works in Delhi and end corruption.”

AAP told the election ‘spectacle’

Former Mayor and AAP councilor Style Oberoi and House leader Mukesh Goyal reiterated the party’s decision to boycott the election by holding a press conference. Oberoi accused the BJP of grabbing power through ‘triple engine power’ and said that the BJP is using MCD only for political gains.

BJP gains in number strength

Out of a total of 250 seats in MCD, 238 councilors are currently active. BJP has 117 councilors, which were 104 in 2022. At the same time, the number of AAP has come down from 134 to 113. The Congress is limited to only 8 seats. The election will also include 238 councilors along with 10 MPs and 14 MLAs.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta has included 11 BJP MLAs and 3 AAP MLAs in the electoral college, making the BJP’s upper hand.
