In a press conference held at the BJP headquarters on Tuesday, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that when Rahul Gandhi was not the leader of the opposition, he was never strong with his words. He speaks like this due to lack of knowledge. There are some sensitive issues, which involve our national identity, unity and strength.
Hardeep Puri said that when he speaks on topics like unity in diversity, it seems that he is trying to set a new, rather dangerous narrative on those things. He said that he (Rahul Gandhi) says that Sikhs in the country are facing problems in wearing 'turban' and 'kara'. But all Sikhs are very proud of being Sikhs. No one has any problem in living according to their religion and wearing a turban. Today Sikhs are feeling more secure and respected than at any time in history after 1947. He said that if the Sikh community has ever felt a sense of insecurity and existential threat, then that time has been the period of Congress rule. In 1984, a massacre was carried out against the Sikh community, in which 3000 innocent people were killed.
In the press conference, national spokesperson RP Singh challenged Rahul to say the same thing in India. If he says the same thing in our country, a case will be filed against him in the court.
It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi said in Virginia, USA on Tuesday that the fight is about whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a turban in India.
