Big relief to farmers, now wheat will be sold even without farmer registry, big decision of CM Yogi:

News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the government procurement of wheat in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a big decision in the interest of farmers. Chief Minister made it mandatory to sell wheat at government purchasing centers ‘Farmer Registry’ Instructions have been given to abolish the condition for the time being. Now farmers will be able to sell their crops at government centers according to the old and simple system.

Why was this decision taken?

In this wheat procurement season, the government had made ‘Farmer Registry’ mandatory to bring transparency. However, the process at the ground level was proving quite complex:

technical issues: Many farmers were facing problems in online registration and data matching.

Queues at centres: Due to lack of registry, many farmers had to return empty handed from the purchasing centers or had to wait for hours.

extreme heat: In view of the rising temperature and heat wave in the state, the Chief Minister has directed to ensure that farmers do not have to face unnecessary trouble in selling their crops.

What will be the new arrangement now?

After the latest instructions (20 April 2026), the process of wheat procurement has now been made easier:

Old system restored: Now, like previous years, farmers will be able to sell their wheat directly by reaching the purchasing centers without any new ID.

Instructions to DM: The Chief Minister has given strict instructions to all the District Magistrates (DMs) of the state that there should be adequate arrangements for drinking water, shade to sit and other basic facilities for the farmers at the purchasing centres.

Payment in 48 hours: The system of sending the payment amount directly to the bank accounts of farmers (through DBT) within 48 hours of crop purchase has been further tightened.

Farmer organizations expressed gratitude

Farmer organizations have welcomed this decision of the government. He says that in the busy season of harvesting and threshing, this decision will benefit the most small and marginal farmers, who were not able to get registered due to lack of technology.

Key statistics of this season

Target: This year the government has set a target of purchasing 50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat.

Purchasing Centre: About 6,500 government purchasing centers have been established across the state.

Time: These centers are functional from 9 am to 6 pm.
