The pension received every month after retirement is the biggest support for lakhs of government employees and their families. But often there was always a fear – that many years after retirement, some notice might come from the department that you had got more pension by mistake, and now you have to return it!

Due to this one notice, many pensioners had to face financial and mental problems. But now the government has ended this fear forever.

What has the government said? Understand in simple language

The Department of Pension (DoPPW) of the Central Government has issued a very important and clear instruction. According to this, Once your pension or family pension is decided, it cannot be reduced later under any circumstances. This is a huge decision which provides security to pensioners.

But… there is one small condition!

There is only one exception to this rule – “Clerical error”,

This means that if any Babu or officer has made any mistake in writing or adding or subtracting while determining the pension, then it can be rectified.

But here also there is a ‘Lakshman Rekha of 2 years’

The government has made another big rule for the safety of pensioners. If the department detects any such mistake after two years, then it cannot directly deduct your pension. Before doing so, they will have to take approval from senior officials of the Pension Department sitting in Delhi.

This means that now no department will be able to arbitrarily cut your pension after years.

What if I get more pension by mistake?

This is the most important question. Suppose, there was no fault of yours in this and the department itself sent more pension.

• Government will take decision: In such a situation, the concerned ministry will decide whether the excess amount given to you should be taken back or be forgiven,
• Refund Method: Even if a decision is taken to withdraw the amount, the government will 2 months notice Will give. If you are unable to return the amount, the amount will be yours. Further pension in small installments Will be cut. No big burden will be put on your pension at once.

In short, this new clarification has given a great relief and comfort to lakhs of pensioners of the country. Now they can live their retirement life without any worries.
