News India Live, Digital Desk: Serious question marks have once again been raised on the medical education system of Bihar. A case of large-scale rigging and theft has come to light in the MBBS examinations being conducted at the prestigious Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna. This entire scam came to light when an unknown person sent an email to the university administration and exposed the ‘cheating’ taking place in the examination. After this revelation, there is a stir among medical students and parents.

One secret email and everyone lost their sleep

The case began when Aryabhatta Knowledge University received a confidential email. This email explained in detail how students are using mobiles and other gadgets to avoid the attention of CCTV cameras in the examination hall of IGIMS. Initially it was believed to be someone’s mischief, but when the university team conducted a surprise inspection, even the officials were stunned to see the sight there.

Investigation revealed: Irregularities found at the examination center

When the investigation team constituted by the university reached IGIMS without any prior notice, the claims made in the email started being confirmed. During the investigation, it was found that rules ranging from seating arrangement to monitoring in the examination hall were flouted. There are also reports of suspicious material being recovered from some students. The administration is now also investigating the role of those ‘invigilators’ and employees, under whose nose all this was going on.

Crisis looms over students’ future

After this revelation now the question is arising whether this examination will be cancelled? University sources say that they are adopting a very strict stance in this matter. If strong evidence of rigging is found, then not only can the examination of the concerned subjects be conducted again, but the students found guilty can also be debarred. This incident is a big blow to those honest students who dream of becoming doctors by working hard day and night.
