News India Live, Digital Desk: Jharkhand Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the hilly areas located in Pirtand police station area of Giridih district during a joint search operation. Security forces had received information that the Naxalites were keeping these weapons hidden to carry out some major incident.
Operation ‘Clean Sweep’: What was recovered?
During the search operation, the security forces found many deadly weapons buried under the soil. The list of recovered items is of extreme security importance:
Explosives: Huge quantities of gelatin sticks and power gel.
Detonator: Various electric detonators used for IED blasts.
Weapon: Desi pistol, rifle and a large number of live cartridges.
Other Ingredients: Bags, uniform clothes and items of daily use used by Naxalites.
The promptness of security forces averted a major accident
This area of Giridih has been sensitive to Naxalite activities for a long time. This campaign, launched on the instructions of SP Giridih, has broken the back of the Naxalites. Officials believe that the explosives were intended to be used to target police patrols or any public infrastructure.
Search operation continues in the area
After the recovery of weapons, ‘Combing Operation’ has been intensified in Giridih and surrounding forests. Every nook and corner is being searched with the help of drones and dog squad. Local villagers have also been appealed to immediately inform the police about suspicious activities.
