India Sunshine Update: Are the hours of sunshine decreasing in the country? Is someone stealing the sunlight? Amidst these questions, a research has come out which shows that this is really happening. India is losing sunlight due to clouds and pollution.

Why is the sun’s brightness decreasing in India?
Is someone stealing India’s sunshine? Don’t you also feel that this time the sun is less visible? These questions have arisen due to the prolonged duration of monsoon and continuous cloudy sky. People often hear that the sun has disappeared this year. There are data to support this notion. This year, due to continuous rain and cloudy weather, less sunlight has been seen. Pollution has also played an important role in this. Know what the experts have said on this matter.

Sunlight hours are decreasing… what scientists say
Scientists from the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology and the Indian Meteorological Department of Banaras Hindu University, Pune have jointly conducted a study. This research has shown that sunlight hours have been continuously decreasing in most parts of India over the last three decades. The main reason for this is increasing cloud cover and increasing air pollution.

A shocking revelation has come to light in the research.
A study published this month in Nature’s Scientific Reports examined data on sunshine hours from 20 weather stations in nine regions between 1988 and 2018. The full study has been published in Nature’s Scientific Reports. Scientists collected data on sunshine hours from 20 weather stations in nine different regions between 1988 and 2018. They found that sunshine hours had decreased everywhere. The situation remains the same in Northeast India, but decline has been seen elsewhere.

BHU scientist Manoj K. Srivastava said, “On the west coast,
The hours of sunlight have decreased by an average of 8.6 hours per year. Meanwhile, the plains of North India have seen the largest reduction of 13.1 hours per year. He further said that the East Coast and Deccan Plateau have also seen a reduction in sunlight hours by 4.9 and 3.1 hours per year respectively. Even in the interior regions of central India the reduction is about 4.7 hours per year.”

What do studies say about the decline in sunshine hours?
According to the study, there was a slight increase in sunshine hours from October to May, but a significant decrease during the monsoon season from June to September. Scientists believe that high concentrations of aerosols in the air are the cause of this solar dimming. These aerosols are produced by factory smoke, stubble burning and vehicular pollution. Scientists said that these aerosols are small particles that help in collecting water droplets in the air, due to which clouds can remain in the sky for a long time.
