Banks will remain closed for so many days in April, check RBI’s holiday list; Otherwise we will return empty handed!:

New Delhi: With the beginning of the new financial year 2026-27, the month of April is bringing a lot of festivals and holidays. This month, many big festivals of different religions and states will be celebrated, due to which banks, schools and government offices are going to remain closed for several days. If you have to go to the branch and complete any important work related to the bank, then definitely check the list of holidays before leaving home. Due to continuous holidays this month, people are also getting a great opportunity to travel on long weekends and spend time with family.

Many holidays are falling in the initial week itself

The month is beginning with bank holidays. Due to the annual closing of banks on April 1, business remains closed for customers across the country. Immediately after this, on the occasion of Good Friday on April 3, banks will remain closed in most parts of the country. At the same time, in some states, Easter and weekend holidays are falling on 4th and 5th April, due to which banks will remain closed for several consecutive days in the first week of April.

Ambedkar Jayanti and regional festivals celebrated

There are plenty of festivals even in mid-April. Along with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, many major regional festivals like Baisakhi, Tamil New Year, Biju and Bohag Bihu will be celebrated on April 14. Due to these festivals, there will be bank holiday in many states between 14th and 16th April. Apart from this, banks will remain closed in some states on the occasion of Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya on 20th April and Gariya Puja on 21st April. Talking about the capital Delhi, apart from April 1 and April 3, banks will remain closed on the occasion of Ram Navami on April 10, Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 and Mahavir Jayanti on April 21.

When will banks remain closed on weekends?

Apart from festivals, weekend holidays will also be applicable as per the rules set in banks. According to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the second and fourth Saturday of every month is a national holiday in banks. In such a situation, banks will remain closed across India on 11 April (second Saturday) and 25 April (fourth Saturday). Along with this, there will be no work in banks on all Sundays due to weekly holidays.
