Bank holidays next week: The festive season has started and with this the bank holidays have come. If you have any necessary work related to the bank, such as depositing checks, updating the passbook or any other work, do not avoid it at all. It is better that you settle it this week, because the next week is going to be full of holidays.

Banks will remain closed in different parts of the country on the occasion of Durga Puja, Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti. It is very important to know which holiday is in your city and which is not.

Let us see when and where the banks will remain closed next week:

1. 29 September (Monday) – Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami)
This holiday will be mainly in the states of Eastern and Northeast India.

• These cities will remain holiday: Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi.

2. 30 September (Tuesday) – Durga Puja (Maha Navami)
The holiday of Maha Navami will also remain in a few select states.

• These cities will remain holiday: Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, Thiruvananthapuram.

3. October 1 (Wednesday) – Dussehra / Vijayadashami
It is a major festival, but its holiday is also not together in the whole country. In some states Dussehra will be celebrated on 1 October and some on 2 October.

• Banks will remain closed in these cities on 1 October: Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, Thiruvananthapuram.

4. October 2 (Thursday) – Gandhi Jayanti (National Holiday)
This is a national holiday, which means that banks will not open in any state on this day.

• On this day, all government and private banks across the country will remain closed.

So what should you do?

• Set up work first: If you have any work going to go to the bank, then finish it before Monday, September 29.
• Use online services: During the holidays, you can use digital services like net banking, mobile banking and UPI without any hindrance.
• ATM’s support: ATM machines will be operational to withdraw cash. However, due to congestion during festivals, the cash in some ATMs may end quickly, so it would be prudent to have a little preparation in advance.
