Safety Measures:
Security was increased due to the gathering of thousands of Namazis in Jama Masjid. The presence of heavy police force and mob management measures were taken to ensure peaceful celebrations. Security forces were deployed in the mosque and adjoining areas to ensure smooth entry and exit for the devotees. Earlier, Delhi Police checked vehicles in many parts of the city to create a sense of security among the people and appealed to them to maintain peace and harmony on Eid-ul-Azha.
Meanwhile, the police have made special arrangements on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha in Surat. DCP Bhagirath Garhvi of Surat Zone-2 said, “Walking and checking in the area have been being done for several days. We have also appealed to the people to celebrate the festival while maintaining communal harmony and follow the rules issued by the government…”
Importance of Eid-ul-Azha:
Eid al-Azha remembers the Prophet Ibrahim’s desire to sacrifice his son under the obedience of God. On this day, prayer, charity and animal rituals are sacrificed, whose original message is shared and sympathy. The festival is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hija, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar and is also known as the ‘festival of sacrifice’ or large Eid.
