According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Montha made landfall near Kakinada, between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday night. High waves started rising in the sea and within no time hundreds of trees and electric poles were uprooted and fell like a deck of cards.

One dead, many injured

An elderly woman tragically died due to the storm in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district when a huge tree fell on her house due to strong winds. In the same district, a boy and an auto driver were also seriously injured when coconut trees fell on them.

The havoc of this storm is not limited to Andhra Pradesh only. Now its impact has started reaching from Odisha, Telangana and Chhattisgarh to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Strict warning to fishermen not to go into the sea

The Meteorological Department has clearly said that there will be high waves in the sea for the next few days and the situation will remain very dangerous. Therefore, fishermen from Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Bengal have been given strict instructions not to venture into the sea.
