News India Live, Digital Desk: In today’s time, being a parent, the biggest fear is that when our child goes out of the house, is he safe? Often we rely on auto, rickshaw or van drivers to send our children to school or tuition. But the news that has come from Lucknow has shaken the foundation of this trust.
A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from an area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. What an auto driver did to a mere 13-14 year old student studying in class seven here is a deep stain on the society.
That scary journey and the silence of the forest
Today is January 8, 2026, and since yesterday there is a discussion among the people of Lucknow about how an auto driver sold his humanity. It is being told that the accused coaxed the student and took him to a deserted forest area. There he took advantage of the child’s helplessness and did wrong things with him. When the innocent child became numb due to this accident, the brute threatened him that if he told anyone about it, he would kill him.
The battle of courage and justice
The child somehow reached home, but his frightened face and silent behavior troubled the family members. When the family lovingly took the child into their confidence, he tearfully narrated his ordeal. Hearing this, the ground slipped beneath my feet. The family members reached the police without any delay.
Lucknow Police has also shown promptness in this matter. As soon as the report was filed, the search for the accused was started and he was arrested. The police have registered a case under Section 377 and POCSO Act and have assured of strict action. But the question remains the same – will the deep wound on that child’s mind ever heal?
What should you and I do?
Such incidents caution us that we should not just limit ourselves to school talk on ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ with children, but share everyday things with them.
- Talk openly to children: If the child suddenly becomes silent or is afraid of going out, then try to find out the reason.
- Track your journey: If possible, do not send small children alone in an auto or unknown vehicle. Keep complete details of their transporter (Aadhaar, photo) with you.
- Safety Tips: Explain to children how to raise noise if someone tries to change the route or take them to a deserted place.
