Are money stuck in ATM? Do not panic, just do these 3 things, your money will come back quickly!

Post

While withdrawing money from ATM, there can hardly be any other bad situation- the machine made a sound of counting money, a message of debit also came from your account, but the cash did not come in hand! In this moment, anyone’s heart can panic. Different types of questions start revolving in the mind – what will happen now? Who will pay my money? Will the bank agree or not?

If you ever get stuck in such a situation, then there is no need to panic first. Your money is completely safe and the bank is obliged to give it back. All you have to do is follow some easy steps correctly.

1. First, handle the receipt of the transaction

If a receipt (slip) has come out of the machine after the transaction fails, then keep it safe with you. This is the biggest proof of your claim. If the slip has not come out, do not worry. Take a screenshot of the bank’s debit message on your phone. It contains important information like transaction ID and time.

Another important work: Check your account balance immediately. Many times in a few minutes the money returns to the account automatically.

2. Do not leave ATM booths, talk to guard and helpline

Do not get out of the ATM booth immediately when the money is stuck.

  • Press the cancel button: Stop a few seconds and press the ‘cancell’ button of ATM. Many times the money stuck in the cash dispenser can come out.
  • Check nearby: Look at the cash dispenser slot of the machine carefully whether there is any note trapped.
  • Talk to the guard: If there is a guard on the ATM, then immediately tell him about this incident and get it entry in the register kept there.
  • Call customer care: The bank’s toll-free customer care number is written inside or outside the ATM booth. Call it immediately and file your complaint. They will give you a complaint or reference number, which is handled.

3. Wait for 24 hours, then go to the bank

According to the RBI rules, if the ATM transaction fails, the bank has to credit the money back to the customer’s account within a certain time (usually 5 working days).

But you do not need to wait so long. Wait for 24 hours, if the money does not return, then go straight to your home branch the next day. Give an application in writing there, which has complete details of the date, time, location of ATM and your transactions. Also put a screenshot of transaction receipt or debit message. The bank will take action on your complaint and will get your money back as soon as possible.

Remember, in such a situation it is most important to take work with peace and sensible. Your money will not go anywhere.
