News India Live, Digital Desk: Deadly Traffic Jam in Madhya Pradesh: A very worrying news has come out from Madhya Pradesh, where three people died due to a severe traffic jam. These also included a pregnant woman, who could not get timely treatment. The matter became so serious that the Jabalpur High Court had to interfere in it. But during the hearing, the court’s anger erupted on the argument that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) argued.

What happened and what NHAI said?

The incident took place between Simaria area and Rewa in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. This route often gets a long jam, especially when road construction work is going on and the path is left only one lane. Three people lost their lives by getting stuck in this jam.

When a bench of Jabalpur High Court Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Prakash Srivastava heard a petition on the matter, a statement came from NHAI on which the court was also surprised. NHAI said, “Why do people leave the house early?” That is, they were blaming the problem of jam at the passengers.

Court’s anger and strict instructions:

The High Court was very angry at this insensitive and irresponsible statement of NHAI. The judges clearly stated that this statement shows that NHAI does not care about people’s lives. The court immediately reprimanded NHAI and gave many strict instructions to prevent such accidents in future:

1. Present a detailed plan: NHAI has been asked to introduce an action plan to completely eliminate the problem of traffic jam.

2. Diversion route arrangement: Wherever construction work is going on, alternative routes (diversion routes) should be made to divert traffic in advance and give their correct information.

3. Sapping with police and administration: Work closely with the police and local administration for traffic management so that there is no jam.

4. Preparation of emergency services: In case of jam, immediate availability of emergency services like ambulance, crane should be ensured.

5. Giving correct information: The proper system should be made to give people in advance about the condition of the path and the possible jam.

The court also said that instructions were given on this route earlier on the problem of jam, but they were not paid attention. Now the court has given strict warning to NHAI that if these instructions are not followed, then serious consequences will have to be suffered. The incident once again questions road safety and accountability of government departments.
