Alan Musk’s company Starlink Satellite in India is ready to start internet service. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that Starlink has received license and regulatory approval from the government. Now the company is waiting for the final approval of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authority Center.
Preparation to start service
Scindia said in an event that Starlink has completed all the necessary procedures to start satellite internet services in India. The company can start high-speed broadband services in India as soon as approval from the IN-Space. According to reports, Starlink may start its services in India in the next two months. The company is currently working on building a base station in India. IN-Space Chairman Pawan Goenka has also confirmed that all the needs of Starlink’s licensing have been met.
In-space role
The Government of India established the IN-Space in 2020, which controls satellite services. IN-Space has issued a letter of intent to Starlink and after the document is signed, the company will get formal approval to start services in India. Starlink currently provides high-speed internet to more than 105 countries around the world through Spacex’s 6,750 low-orbit satellite.
Expect cheap service
Starlink service will be cheaper in India. The government has asked the company to provide cheap satellite internet service. The cost of serving Starlink in neighboring countries Bhutan and Bangladesh is around Rs 3,300 per month, while the one -time equipment costs around Rs 30,000. A similar cost is expected in India, which will help improve internet connectivity in rural areas.
