Adil, the lion of Kashmir, now Eknath Shinde has fulfilled his promise. The family of the martyr of Pahalgam attack got a new home.

News India Live, Digital Desk: When bullets were echoing in the valleys of Kashmir and the shadow of terror was looming, the country can never forget the example of humanity set by a local youth ‘Adil Shah’ by risking his life. On the occasion of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack (22 April 2026), Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has fulfilled the promise he had made to the martyr’s family. Shinde government has gifted a new house (Anand Nath Bhawan) to Adil Shah’s family, the keys of which were handed over to the family today.

Who was the brave Adil Shah?

Syed Adil Hussain Shah, 30, a resident of Hapatnar village in Pahalgam, was a guide and horse rider. Last year (22 April 2025), when terrorists fired indiscriminately on a tourist bus in Basran Valley, Adil was not scared. Without caring for his life, he tried to snatch the rifle from a terrorist so that he could save the tourists. During this bravery, the terrorists shot him at very close range. This sacrifice of Adil saved the lives of many tourists from Maharashtra.

Shinde kept his promise: ‘Anand Nath Bhawan’ ready

When Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached Pahalgam immediately after the attack to help the victims, after seeing the dilapidated house of Adil, he pledged to build a permanent house for his family. Shinde became emotional while inaugurating this new house today through video conferencing. He said, “Adil made the supreme sacrifice for humanity by rising above the boundaries of religion and language. He is a symbol of the country’s pride.” The house has been named ‘Anand Nath Bhawan’ in memory of Shinde’s guru, late Anand Dighe.

There was an atmosphere of happiness in the entire village, the family expressed gratitude

In a ceremony held on Tuesday, Maharashtra government ministers Sanjay Shirsat and Yogesh Kadam handed over the keys of the house to Adil’s brother Naushad. The brother said with tears in his eyes, “Adil had promised the family a new house, it did not materialize but Shinde Saheb made his dream come true.” During this time the entire village was present and people were never tired of praising the generosity of Eknath Shinde.

Also assured to promote tourism

On this occasion, the Chief Minister not only gave a house, but also talked about promoting employment and tourism for the local youth of Kashmir. He said that with the cooperation of the Central Government, basic facilities will be improved in Pahalgam and surrounding areas so that the youth here do not have to risk their lives like Adil and they can earn livelihood with dignity.
