Rudraprayag of Uttarakhand A major accident took place in the district today i.e. on Thursday 26 June 2025. An 18 seater bus in the Gholatir area here uncontrolled and fell into the Alaknanda River. At least one person has died and seven people have been injured in this accident.
After the incident, teams of Uttarakhand Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are conducting rescue operations on the spot. So far seven people have been rescued, while the correct number of people who have died have not been known yet.
The accident occurred in the Alaknanda River in Gholatir area, according to police headquarters spokesperson and IG Nilesh Anand Bharanne, the bus fell directly into the river after losing control. The accident took place in Gholatir area of Rudraprayag district.

Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that police, SDRF and administration teams are present on the spot and rescue work is going on fast. The search for people swept into the river continues.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the accident by tweeting. The Chief Minister wrote, ‘It was very sad to hear the news of a Tempo Traveler falling into the river in Rudraprayag district. Relief and rescue operations continue on war footing by SDRF and other rescue teams. I am in constant touch with the local administration regarding this matter. I pray to God for the safety of everyone. ‘
