A major agreement has been reached between India and Japan for the purchase of major defense equipment. The third ministerial level 2 + 2 meeting was held in New Delhi on 20 August regarding this issue. Under this agreement, India will buy a communication system from Japan for its navy. This antenna made in Japan is called Unicorn, which stands for 'Unified Complex Radio Antenna'. A joint statement issued by both the countries said that the four ministers have made good progress towards signing the agreements and acquisition of Unicorn and related equipment.

Three Japanese companies NEC Corporation, Sampa Kogyo K.K. and Yokohama Rubber Company Limited jointly developed the Unicorn. The main contractor in this is NEC Corporation. The Unicorn 'Nora-50 variant' is currently deployed on Mogami-class warships. Information regarding the Unicorn has been shared on the website of Yokohama Rubber, stating that several aerial antennas pre-installed on the deck have been fitted into the support columns to make the Unicorn secret.
