Bhopal, March 2 (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the first list for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. In this, candidates have been announced for a total of 195 Lok Sabha seats. In which names of candidates have been declared for 24 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been given the ticket from Guna seat, while former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has been made the candidate from Vidisha seat.
In a press conference held on Saturday evening at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, the party's national general secretary Vinod Tawde revealed the names of 195 candidates released in the first list. These also include 24 candidates from Madhya Pradesh. Tickets of six MPs including Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur have been canceled. BJP has made former mayor Alok Sharma its candidate from Bhopal. At the same time, the ticket of Guna MP Dr. KP Yadav has been canceled and the name of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has been announced. Shivraj Singh Chauhan has been fielded from Vidisha by canceling the ticket of Ramakant Bhargava. Apart from this, tickets of Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar from Gwalior, Rajbahadur Singh from Sagar and Guman Singh Damor from Ratlam have been canceled.
BJP has nominated Shivmangal Singh Tomar from Morena, Sandhya Rai from Bhind, Bharat Singh Kushwaha from Gwalior, Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna, Shivraj Singh Chauhan from Vidisha, Alok Sharma from Bhopal, Lata Wankhede from Sagar, Rahul Lodhi from Damoh, BJP State President from Khajuraho. Tickets have been given to VD Sharma, Ganesh Singh from Satna, Janardan Mishra from Rewa, Himadri Singh from Shahdol, Ashish Dubey from Jabalpur. Whereas, Dr. Virendra Khatik from Tikamgarh, Rajesh Mishra from Sidhi, Durgadas Uike from Betul, Faggan Singh Kulaste from Mandla, Darshan Singh Choudhary from Narmadapuram, Rodmal Nagar from Rajgarh, Mahendra Singh Solanki from Dewas, Gajendra Patel from Khargone, Dnyaneshwar Patil from Khandwa. BJP has made candidates Sudhir Gupta from Mandsaur and Anita Nagar Singh Chauhan from Ratlam.
BJP has changed candidates from Morena, Damoh, Narmadapuram, Sidhi and Jabalpur seats, because Narendra Singh Tomar, who became MP from Morena last time, is currently the Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Whereas Prahlad Singh Patel from Damoh, Uday Pratap Singh from Narmadapuram, Reeti Pathak from Sidhi and Rakesh Singh from Jabalpur have been elected this time in Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Among them, Prahlad Singh Patel, Uday Pratap Singh and Rakesh Singh are cabinet ministers in the state government.
It is noteworthy that there are a total of 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, out of which BJP had won 28 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a unilateral victory. The only Chhindwara seat went to Congress. Chhindwara is considered to be the stronghold of Kamalnath and his son Nakulnath won from here. BJP has now declared the names of candidates on 24 seats in the first list, while candidates have not been declared yet on five seats – Chhindwara, Indore, Ujjain, Balaghat, Dhar.
