News India Live, Digital Desk: The scorching sun and hot winds have made life miserable for people in Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of severe heat wave i.e. ‘Heatwave’ for many districts of the state from tomorrow. The temperature is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours, due to which the mercury may cross 40 to 42 degrees in most parts of the state.

Most affected by heat wave in these districts

According to Meteorological Center Ranchi, the maximum heat wave will be seen in East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur), West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan of Kolhan division. Apart from this, orange alert of extreme heat has also been issued in Deoghar, Godda and Dumka districts of Santal Pargana. The heat will also show its strength in the capital Ranchi, although the heat wave situation here may be a little less severe as compared to other districts.

Advice not to go out of the house in the afternoon

Meteorologists have advised people to take special precautions. People have been asked to avoid going out unnecessarily between 11 pm and 4 pm, when the sun’s rays are at their strongest. Being exposed to heat wave increases the risk of dehydration and heat stroke. Especially children, elderly people and farm laborers have been warned not to come in direct contact with sunlight.

When will we get relief from the heat?

At present, there is no possibility of getting relief for the next 4-5 days. Dry and hot winds are blowing due to the anti-cyclonic circulation over the state. The Meteorological Department estimates that unless moist winds come from the Bay of Bengal or a thunderstorm is formed locally, the heat will remain like this.

Main measures to prevent heatwave

Drink enough water: Drink water, lemonade or ORS from time to time even if you do not feel thirsty.

Wear cotton clothes: Wear light colored and loose cotton clothes that can absorb sweat.

Keep your head covered: While going out, definitely use a hat, glasses or a towel.

Attention to eating habits: Eat fresh fruits like watermelon, melon and cucumber, avoid junk food.
