Bikaner, 7 August (HS). The electrification work of 65 km long Sarupsar-Anupgarh railway line of Bikaner division has been completed. With this, the entire 1780 route kilometer railway lines of Bikaner division have been fully electrified. Work is going on at a fast pace at the Lunkaransar, Lalgarh, Kolayat, Chak-Maharaj-Ka and Kalyankot traction sub-stations of the division, after completion of which electric traction will be fully implemented on the division. At present, 86 passenger trains and goods trains as per requirement are being operated on electric traction on Bikaner division.
According to Mahesh Kumar Jevliya, Senior DCM of the division, operation of passenger trains on electric traction in Sadulpur-Loharu section of Bikaner-Sadupur-Rewari section was started from October 2022, Churu-Sadupur from December 2022, Bikaner-Churu from July 2023. Passenger train 12457/58 running between Bikaner and Delhi started operating on electric traction from 31.8.2023. At present, 16 pairs (32 numbers) of passenger trains are being operated on electric traction in this section.
In Bikaner-Suratgarh section, work on Lunkaransar and Lalgarh traction sub-stations is in progress and after their commissioning, running of trains on electric traction will be possible. In Suratgarh-Hanumangarh-Bathinda section, goods trains are being run on electric traction because now Rajiyasar traction sub-station has become operational, hence electric traction can be implemented for passenger trains in this section as well. In Sri Ganganagar-Hanumangarh, work on Chak-Maharaj-Ka traction sub-station is still in progress and Nawan traction sub-station is working on maximum approved load, hence electric traction can be implemented on a limited scale. Soon, running of trains with electric engines will be possible on all the rail sections of the division.
