Punjab Weather Update: Today, Punjabis can get relief from the heat and humidity they have been feeling for the last few days. Rain has been warned for two days now. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 12 districts of the state today. Although the temperature has increased by 0.5 degrees in the last 24 hours, it is 4.3 degrees more than the average temperature.

The highest temperature was recorded at 40.9 degrees in Bathinda. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of light to moderate rain, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 40 km in 30 cities at 9 am today. The Meteorological Department has divided the areas with light to moderate rain into two categories.

Some areas bordering Himachal are included in the moderate rainfall area. Baba Bakala, Amritsar, Batala, Ajnala, Dera Baba Nanak, Dasuha, Mukerian, Gurdaspur, Pathankot are likely to receive light rain, lightning and wind speed up to 40 kmph.

Patiala, Rajpura, Derabassi, Chamkaur Sahib, Samrala, Rupnagar, Khadoor Sahib, Phillaur, Phagwara, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Balachaur, Nawanshahr, Anandpur Sahib, Garhshankar, Nangal, Hoshiarpur, Bhulath, Dasuha, Mukerian, Dhar Kalan have received light rain. There is a possibility of rain.

According to experts of the Meteorological Department, for the last one week, the monsoon trough (low pressure) area has generally remained in the south near Rajasthan. Today its western end will move towards the north. It will return to its normal position. With this, the cyclone will weaken and move towards Pakistan and its effect will end.

A yellow alert for rain has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala and Mohali. Heavy rain may occur at some places in these districts. During this time, there will be lightning and wind in some areas.
