Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Chief Secretary Rajkumar and senior officials of various departments are constantly monitoring the rain situation from SEOC. 24 x 7 emergency operation centers are functioning at the state and district level. District collectors have been instructed from the state level to take necessary steps in view of the rain situation. A total of 10 NDRF teams and 20 SDRF teams have been deployed in the state as per the requirement of the districts. Apart from this, 5 NDRF teams have been kept in reserve.
Giving information in this regard, Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said that a total of 45 people have been rescued and 398 people have been shifted to a safe place due to heavy rains in the state. 57 villages of the state have been affected due to heavy rains in the last 24 hours. A total of 209 roads, including 09 state highways, 174 panchayat roads and 26 other roads of the state, have been affected. As a result of heavy rains, power supply was affected in 359 villages, out of which power supply has been restored in 314 villages and work is in progress in 45 villages. He has appealed to the people of the state not to panic in the rainy season and cooperate in the system.
The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in South Gujarat and Saurashtra region of the state during the next two days. This includes Surat, Navsari, Valsad in South Gujarat and Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Gir Somnath districts of Saurashtra.
Giving details of the rainfall in the state in the last 24 hours, he said, Porbandar district received 301 mm, Devbhoomi Dwarka district received 227 mm, Junagadh district received 176 mm, Valsad district received 195 mm, Jamnagar district received 86 mm, Gir Somnath district received 65 mm, Rajkot district received 46 mm, Navsari district received 41 mm of rain and other districts received less than 1 inch of rain. By six o'clock in the evening, the state received an average of 328.44 mm of rain. Which is 37.20 percent against the average rainfall. Out of 206 reservoirs in the state, 13 are on high alert, 11 are on alert and 16 are on warning. The total storage in 206 reservoirs of the state is 2,05,122 MCFT. Which is equal to 36.62 percent of the total storage capacity. The storage capacity of Sardar Lake is 1,83,532 MCFT, which is equal to 54.94% of the total storage capacity.
