Due to cross voting, BJP got 10 seats, Congress got 3 and SP got two seats in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: There was heavy cross voting in the Rajya Sabha elections on Tuesday in three states Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. Out of the three election states, the saffron color waved in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, while the BJP suffered a major setback in Karnataka. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh too, cross voting has increased the concern of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. There were 11 candidates in the fray for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, 7 members of BJP and 3 members of SP could have been elected unopposed. But BJP had to field the eighth member in the elections. In Uttar Pradesh, seven SP MLAs cross-voted and BJP won 8 seats, while SP won two seats. In Uttar Pradesh, seven MLAs, including SP Chief Whip Manoj Pandey, cross-voted, while Maharaj Devi did not come to vote. In this way SP lost 8 votes.

Karnataka too had five candidates in the fray for four seats, including JD-SK's D Kupendra Reddy, Congress's Ajay Maken, GC Chandrashekhar and Syed Nasir Hussain and BJP's Narayanasa K.
