According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, moderate to heavy rains may occur in Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, coastal Karnataka and Kerala today. At the same time, light to moderate rains with heavy rains may occur at some places in Vidarbha, Marathwada, southern Chhattisgarh, southern Madhya Pradesh, parts of Telangana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain may occur in Sikkim, Northeast India, interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Uttarakhand, Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and some areas of Rajasthan. Light rain is possible in Jharkhand, Odisha, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana.

According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, a low pressure area is formed over south-eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. The cyclonic circulation associated with it is spread up to 5.8 km above sea level and is inclined towards south-west with height. At the same time, the monsoon line near sea level is passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Sagar, Mandla, Gopalpur and then towards south-east through the Bay of Bengal.

Apart from this, a western disturbance persists in the mid-tropospheric westerly winds as a trough, whose axis is from 72 degrees east to north of 32 degrees north latitude at about 5.8 km above sea level. A trough persists from south Gujarat coast to north Kerala coast. A new low pressure area is likely to develop over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19.
