
The weather patterns in Bihar have changed rapidly and along with getting relief to the people suffering from the scorching heat, the fear of disaster has also deepened. In view of the activity of monsoon in large parts of the state, the Meteorological Center has issued a high-alert of heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning for about 20 districts including Patna. In view of this situation, the department has declared Orange Alert and appealed to the people to take special precautions.

According to meteorologists, at present a strong weather system is passing over Bihar. Due to its impact, there is every possibility of torrential rains along with thunderstorms in the next 24 to 48 hours in major cities like the capital Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Darbhanga, Arrah, Biharsharif, Motihari and Bettiah and their surrounding areas. During this period, the wind speed can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, due to which there is a possibility of damage to mud houses and trees.
Meteorological Department issued very important guidelines
In view of the loss of life and property every year due to lightning (thunderstorm) in Bihar, the Disaster Management Department and the Meteorological Department have issued a strict warning to the people. Farmers and common people have been advised not to go to the fields even by mistake when there are heavy clouds in the sky, not to take shelter under big trees and to maintain distance from electric poles and tall structures. In case of bad weather, staying inside pucca houses has been said to be the safest solution.
Monsoon speeds up in North and South Bihar
At present, monsoon winds have become quite active in the border areas of Bihar as well as in the districts of North and South Bihar. The local administration has also been put on alert so that any disruption caused by water logging or storm can be dealt with immediately. Due to the rains in the Terai areas of Nepal, the water level of the rivers of North Bihar is also being continuously monitored.
