Bangladesh Teesta Project : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made an important announcement today regarding the very important Teesta project. She has shown more trust in India by threatening China on this project issue. At the same time, the Dragon has become angry with India's entry in this dispute. Meanwhile, discussions have been going on for a long time between Bangladesh, China and India regarding this project. More importantly, both India and China are in a race to acquire this project, however, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh has given a big blow to China by showing more trust in India. In today's press conference, she also told the benefits of giving the project to India. The estimated cost of this project is about one billion dollars.
Sheikh Hasina made a proposal to both China and India
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (PM Sheikh Hasina) held a press conference in the capital Dhaka, in which she said, 'We have made a proposal to both India and China for the Teesta project. China has already done research for this project, while India is going to do research soon. After that, we will take whatever decision is in the interest of Bangladesh.' During this, he also said that, 'We will give top priority to India for this project, because India is the only source of water in the Teesta river. If they are giving us the water that we need, then we will give them priority.' He said that this is diplomacy, there is nothing to hide in it.
Why is this project important for India?
Teesta river is one of the 54 rivers flowing between India and Bangladesh. Teesta river project is very important for India from geographical, political point of view. If China's involvement in such projects increases, then it is a matter of serious concern for India. Because the sensitive Chicken Neck Corridor is very close to it.
The opposition got angry with Sheikh Hasina's decision and created a ruckus
Let us tell you that last month other leaders of the opposition party had created a ruckus in this matter and condemned Sheikh Hasina's decision. Many leaders said that Sheikh Hasina would disturb the balance in the country's foreign policy by giving more benefits to India in this term. Those leaders were pointing towards China. Like India, Bangladesh also has cordial relations with China. There is bilateral trade between the two countries. Not only this, Chinese companies are doing development projects in Bangladesh. Bangladesh's Chittagong port is currently being developed by China. Most of Bangladesh's trade is done through this port. The opposition argued that close ties with India would anger China and reduce Chinese investment in the country. Bangladesh should maintain a balance between the two countries.
