Kolkata, July 15 (HS). On the upcoming 21st July, the day of Trinamool's 'Martyr's Day', BJP is preparing to celebrate it as 'Democracy Murder Day'.
The Trinamool Congress will hold its annual 'Shaheed Diwas' event at Dharmatala in Kolkata on July 21, a tribute to the 13 people killed during a West Bengal Youth Congress demonstration led by Mamata Banerjee on July 21, 1993.
On this day, BJP will protest in front of all the police stations of the state and celebrate it as 'Loktantra Hatya Diwas'. On that day, the effigy of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be burnt across the state, due to which there may be clashes on the streets.
Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari said a day earlier that the way post-poll violence has taken place in West Bengal is a murder of democracy. He said that the BJP will organize protests against the ongoing post-poll violence in West Bengal and added that about one crore people could not cast their votes in the 2023 state panchayat elections.
Another party leader said on Monday that on July 21, there will be a massive protest across the state and effigies of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be burnt. This will be a symbolic protest against the attitude of the ruling party and government of West Bengal against democracy.
