Punjab Weather Update: After the monsoon remained inactive for the last few days, the weather has again become hot and humid in most parts of Punjab. The maximum temperature has been increasing continuously for the last two days. On Thursday, the temperature was recorded 1.2 degrees higher. But the monsoon is likely to become active again from today. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in 10 districts today.
Chance of rain till 8 am
Rain started in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and surrounding areas from 7 am. Due to which people got relief from the heat. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a warning of moderate rain has been issued in Sangrur, Barnala, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana till 8 am.
Today, an alert has been issued for rain, wind and thunderstorm in 10 districts of Punjab including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar. Not only this, winds can also blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km in these areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon has been normal so far in the month of July. It is only 5 degrees less than normal. Talking about July 1 to 11, normally 49.6 mm of rain has occurred, whereas till now only 47.3 mm of rain has occurred.
Less than normal rainfall was recorded here
There are 10 districts of Punjab where less than normal rainfall has been recorded. Hoshiarpur recorded 53%, Kapurthala 42%, Rupnagar 43%, SAS Nagar 22%, Fatehgarh Sahib 51%, Patiala 43%, Bathinda 33%, Ferozepur 70%, Moga and SBS Nagar recorded 63% less rainfall.
