The hearing of the NEET UGC paper leak case began in the Supreme Court today on Monday (08 July). The lawyer of the students seeking cancellation of the paper told the court that the exam was held on May 5 and the result was to be declared on June 14, but the result came on June 4.
The students' lawyer further said that a day before the exam, information was received on a Telegram channel that the paper of the NEET exam to be held tomorrow is available here and the answer sheet of that exam paper is also available. The students' lawyer said that the NTA, which conducts the exam, has also admitted that some students have received the wrong paper. Many such cases have come to light where it was said that the NEET paper has been leaked. An FIR has also been registered in Patna in this matter.
Kart asked the lawyer- how many students have grace marks?
The lawyer told the court that the facts that came to light initially before the Bihar police point to a massive paper leak. In this exam, 67 children scored 720 out of 720 marks, out of which 6 were from the same centre. After this the court asked how many of these students got grace marks. Not one, the lawyer replied.
He told the court that it has never happened before in history that more than two or three students have got full marks. This is the first time in history that 67 children have scored 720 out of 720 marks. The court said no, 1563 children from 2 centers were given grace marks, out of which 6 children got 720 out of 720 marks.
On what evidence are they demanding a reinvestigation – Court?
The court asked what evidence do you have on the basis of which you are demanding a re-investigation? On this, the lawyer said that if cheating is being proved at the system level itself, then it raises questions on the credibility of the entire examination. The lawyer said that during the last hearing also the court had said that we will ensure that no student can get admission through wrong or fraudulent means. The lawyer said that the investigation of Bihar Police has also revealed that there is a flaw in the entire system.
NTA admitted that the paper was leaked?
On the issue of evidence in the court, the lawyer further said that on one hand NTA is saying that there has been a small scale irregularity but on the other hand, after filing FIRs in different states, the investigation of the case has been handed over to the court. CBI. After this the court asked whether this means that NTA has accepted that the paper was leaked? Solicitor General said that such a case has come to light only in one place, in that case too the accused have been arrested and the beneficiaries have been identified.
The government admitted that the paper was leaked
After this argument of the Solicitor General, it has come to light that for the first time the government has admitted in the court that the paper was leaked. The government said that such a complaint was received only in Patna where the accused has been arrested. At the same time, the lawyer of the students said that such facts have come to light, where it is clear that the paper was leaked on WhatsApp and Telegram channels. We have proof of this. He further said that the leaked paper was printed from a Wi-Fi printer in a school. In the investigation done by Bihar Police so far, information has been received about such different groups.
On this, the CJI asked, you are trying to say that the credibility of the entire examination has been questioned. In such a situation, it becomes difficult to know who benefited or not. Who made this mistake or not?
