Jabalpur, June 28 (HS). On Friday, the District Panchayat organized a main workshop of Sarpanch, Panchayat Secretary, Village Employment Assistants, Sub-engineers, Assistant Engineers and District Panchayats of all the Panchayats of the district regarding plantation to be done on a large scale in the district during the rains and their protection. In this workshop organized in the presence of Sihora MLA Santosh Varkade, District Panchayat President Asha Mukesh Gotiya, Forest Division Officer Rishi Mishra, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Jayati Singh, Pradeep Tripathi and Siddharth Ingle of Green Yatra Sanstha, who came from Mumbai as subject experts, gave detailed training about the technology of plantation.
While inaugurating the workshop, MLA Varkade said that plantation is very important for life. He emphasized on paying special attention to the protection of the plants along with plantation. He also praised the CEO of the District Panchayat for organizing the workshop.
In the workshop, subject expert Siddharth Ingle from the NGO Green Yatra from Mumbai gave detailed information on the technical aspects of plantation. He said that a research has found that the cost of oxygen per day is Rs 13 lakhs, we get it for free from nature and it is priceless. Ingle said that it is the responsibility of everyone to use technology while planting trees, so that 100% of the plants can be saved.
Pradeep Tripathi, founder of Green Yatra Sanstha, while expressing his views in the workshop said that earning money is not everything in life. He told how he left his medical studies and joined this campaign. Tripathi advised to use permaculture method of plantation and said that with this method the plantation site can also be made a source of income.
He told that pumpkin, vegetables, tubers, papaya, banana etc. can be planted between the plants planted in this method and an income of four to five lakh rupees can be earned by planting trees in one hectare area. Tripathi told that this work is being done by him in about 20 thousand hectares in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore. Today, big trees have grown in the places where garbage is dumped in big cities.
Forest Division Officer Rishi Mishra, in his presentation at the workshop, first gave information about the plantation being done by the forest department through a film. He said that this year the forest department is planting more than 4 lakh saplings. Water is not a hindrance for this. All the plants can be kept alive by managing rainwater for six to eight months.
At the end of the workshop, District Panchayat CEO Jayati Singh told all the sub-engineers posted in the district how to plant trees under MNREGA. She instructed to plant trees through permaculture in two watershed projects being run in the district. She clarified that all these things should be visible on the ground during the visit of the district panchayat in the coming days. For this, all the districts should prepare with their teams. The District Panchayat CEO also expressed gratitude to all the subject experts, forest division officer and all the participants present in the workshop.
