Varanasi, 26 April (HS). Even during the Lok Sabha elections, the officer is serious about completing all the ongoing development works in the city within the stipulated time period. On Friday, MD Jal Nigam (Rural), Secretary Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply, Uttar Pradesh Dr Raj Shekhar reviewed the works of Jal Jeevan Mission and Namami Gange.
He directed to complete all the ongoing works within the stipulated time and to form a team and verify the works done in the villages regarding drinking water supply of L&T.
In the meeting, XEN Jalkal told that the municipal corporation limits of Varanasi region are about 160 square kilometers. Giving detailed information about the current sewerage profile in relation to the population of about 22 lakh, he said that currently seven STPs are functioning in Varanasi. Whose installed capacity is 420 MLD. In comparison, 324 MLD is in use and the total discharge of the city at present is 522 MLD.
He informed that a 55 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant is under construction at Bhagwanpur in Varanasi. A 7 MLD capacity plant has been approved in Sujabad. A plan is proposed to increase the capacity of Durga Drain of 55 MLD in Lohta and the current capacity of Dinapur from 80 MLD to 220 MLD.
In the meeting, the District Magistrate welcomed Dr. Rajashekhar with a bouquet and informed the Secretary about the current situation of sewerage system, water supply and drain covering. The Secretary directed the District Magistrate to form a team and get random verification of the work done.
The Secretary asked the executing agency L&T to complete the repairs of the roads etc. damaged during the laying of the pipeline in a quality manner by May 15.
Municipal Commissioner Akshat Verma, Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal, DDO, Municipal Corporation, Jalkal, Jal Nigam and L&T officials were present in the meeting.
