Civil Surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar said in a press conference at MRMCH on Saturday that the condition of heat web affects the functioning of the body, which can also lead to death. For this reason there is a need to be careful. For this, an advisory has also been issued by the Health Department.
At the same time, in view of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in Palamu on May 13, preparations have also been made to ensure that if people engaged in election work, including polling personnel, security personnel, fall ill through heat web, they should be given immediate treatment. He said that a total of 250 beds have been prepared, five each in all the CHCs, two each in the PHC centres, 25 beds each in the district hospital, five each in the private hospitals associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme. ORS, essential medicines etc. are also being made available in all the centres.
He said that on the election day, assistants will be available with necessary medicines at all the booths of Palamu. Sahiya Sathi will be deployed for monitoring at three booths each. Sahiya will be there to monitor MPW of the partner and Medical Officer will be there to monitor the MPW. He said that blood will be stocked in sufficient quantity in the blood bank before the elections. For this, a blood donation camp will be organized from social organizations. He said that adequate ambulances are also available in the district. There are 28 out of 108 ambulances in the district. Apart from this, one ambulance each at CHC centers and 90 Mamta vehicles are also available in the district.
At present two lakh 94 thousand ORSS are available in the district. Apart from this, one lakh 89 thousand ORS is being purchased. Besides, essential medicines will also be purchased soon. The Civil Surgeon said that three people had died due to heat web during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Drink as much water as possible to avoid heat stroke. Be sure to keep water with you while travelling. Use ORS, home-made beverages like lassi, rice water (maad), lemon water, buttermilk etc. to compensate for the water loss in the body. Apart from seasonal fruits and vegetables, consume watermelon, oranges, grapes, pineapple, cucumber etc. One should wear light colored sweat wicking clothes, use goggles, umbrella, cap, slippers etc.
If you work in the open, cover your head, face, hands and feet with a wet cloth and use an umbrella. Keep the house cool by closing curtains, windows, doors etc. during the day and keeping the windows open at night. Keep the animals in shady places and let them drink enough water. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight during peak summer season, especially between 12 noon and 3 pm. Do not go out barefoot. Avoid eating high protein foods as much as possible and do not use stale food.
