Winds will blow at a speed of 70 to 100 km/hour: District Magistrate
Saharanpur District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Chauhan has appealed to the citizens not to be careless in any way regarding the weather.
-
Danger of storm winds: According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed can reach 70 to 100 kilometers per hour during a storm. Such strong winds can cause huge damage to mud houses, trees and tin sheds.
-
Stay away from trees and hoardings: The administration has clearly said that during a strong storm, people should avoid standing or parking their vehicles under big hoardings, sign boards, dilapidated/weak walls and old trees, because their falling can cause a major accident.
Main guidelines issued by the district administration (Advisory for Public)
To avoid inclement weather and possible hailstorm, the administration has asked to adopt the following safety measures:
1. Avoid waterlogging and electrical hazards
Avoid visiting low-lying areas and waterlogged roads during rains. If any electric wires or poles break and fall due to strong winds, maintain sufficient distance from them and immediately inform the electricity department.
2. Precautions during lightning
-
During thunderstorms or lightning, unplug all valuable electronic appliances (such as TV, refrigerator, computer) in your home and stop using them.
-
If you are outside, do not take shelter in open fields, ponds, water sources, fields and under lonely trees.
3. Hailstorm and animal safety
In view of the possibility of hailstorm in the district, people have been asked to cover their heads safely in case of sudden hailstorm. Also, instead of tying your cattle and pets in the open, shift them to a permanent shed or safe place.
