Routes to Ghantaghar and Alinagar are closed; Traffic police take major action in Gorakhpur regarding Bakrid prayers. Check traffic advisory before leaving home in Gorakhpur; There will be strict vigil on these roads today due to Bakrid prayers, route diversion will be implemented

Gorakhpur Police is fully prepared to maintain peace, security and smooth traffic system in the city on the auspicious occasion of Bakrid. In view of the huge crowd and traffic pressure during prayers in Eidgahs and mosques, the traffic police today i.e. 28th May Route diversion has been implemented in many major and sensitive areas of the city.

This new traffic arrangement has become effective from 6 am today and will remain in effect till half an hour after the completion of the prayers. During this period, there has been a complete ban on movement of all types of vehicles, heavy (commercial) and small, on designated routes.

Tight security arrangements, police deployed at intersections

Gorakhpur SP Traffic Amit Srivastava said that extensive preparations have been made to ensure that the general public does not face any inconvenience during the Namaz and that the security arrangements remain tight. A large number of police personnel have been deployed around all the major intersections and namaz places of the city. No type of vehicle will be allowed to enter the diversion routes marked.

The Traffic Police has appealed to the local citizens to choose alternative routes instead of the main routes to avoid inconvenience this morning and completely follow the instructions of the traffic personnel on duty.

There will be a complete ban on vehicles plying on these routes (restricted routes)

If you are going to travel within Gorakhpur city this morning, plan your journey carefully by looking at the route list given below:

• Shahmaruf Road: The entry of all types of small and big vehicles will be closed from the beginning of the prayers till the end on the Shahmaroof road leading from Jama Masjid Ghantaghar.

• Ghantaghar Road (from Alhaddapur side): There will be a ban on all types of vehicles going from Alhadadpur towards Ghantaghar via Raiganj.

• Normal Taxi Stand: No vehicle will be allowed on the route leading from the normal taxi stand towards Ghantaghar.

• Reti Square: All types of vehicles going from Reti intersection towards Ghantaghar will be banned for the said period.

• Ilahibagh intersection: Complete ban will also be in force on the road leading from Ilahibagh intersection towards Baharampur Bandhe.

• Instructions for heavy vehicles: All heavy vehicles coming from Barf Khana will not be allowed within the city limits. These vehicles will be diverted towards their destination via Laldiggi Bandha route.

• Alinagar and Jatashankar Marg: Vehicles going from Alinagar intersection towards Hazaripur will be diverted from Vijay intersection or Tarang Talkies. Apart from this, there will be a ban on vehicles coming from Jatashankar towards Hazaripur till the namaz is over.

• TP Nagar Square: Entry of vehicles coming from TP Nagar intersection via normal taxi stand towards Turkmanpur, Ghantaghar and Ghosh Company will be completely prohibited.

• Commercial vehicles: There will be a ban on entry of all commercial vehicles coming from Tarang Overbridge and Ganga Square towards Alinagar Square.
