From the Lucknow stage, Yogi launches a scathing attack on the SP: Photos of those who stole flower pots should be displayed at public squares. Yogi’s sharp attack on SP from the stage of Lucknow, photos of flower pot stealers put up at the intersection

The grand ceremony organized at the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan in the capital Lucknow to commemorate the completion of three years of Mayor Sushma Kharkwal’s tenure became the center of a political show of strength. In this program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 413 crore. However, amid these development plans, CM Yogi fiercely attacked the opposition, especially the Samajwadi Party (SP) and took several sharp digs at the old governments.

CM Yogi taunts on ‘pot theft’, says pictures should be put at intersections

Raising the issue of cleanliness and security of government property at the function, CM Yogi made an interesting and strong sarcasm. He appealed to the public to consider government property as their property. He said, “I have seen that someone comes in a luxury car worth Rs 2.5 crore and steals a flower pot worth Rs 45. More than that, the car gets oil.” CM said in a harsh tone that sometimes it comes to mind that photographs of such people should be put up at intersections, so that the general public can see what is their mentality towards government property.

Housing scheme: Zero in SP rule, lakhs in Yogi government

While presenting the account of development works, the Chief Minister made a comparison between the SP rule and his government. He claimed that the Samajwadi Party government was completely involved in nepotism, while his government was directly working for the welfare of the poor. CM said that not a single house was sanctioned for the poor during the SP government. At the same time, his government has so far set a record of providing permanent houses to 17 lakh poor in urban areas and 65 lakh in rural areas.

SP cornered on women safety and law and order

On the issue of law and order, CM Yogi cornered the opposition and said that earlier women’s safety was the biggest challenge in Uttar Pradesh and at that time ‘SP people were the only threat to women’s safety’. He said that after his government came to power, the picture of the state has changed. Now the benefits of government schemes are not limited to any one family or loved ones, but are reaching the poor standing at the last rung of the state.

Said on electricity crisis, ‘Now food is being cooked with electricity’, clothes used to dry on wires during SP rule

While answering the questions being raised regarding the electricity situation in the state, CM Yogi called it a global problem. He said that due to US-Iran tension, the supply line has been affected at the international level, the effect of which is visible. Citing figures, he said that in 2017, the peak demand of the state was 5 to 6 thousand MW, now it has increased to 32 to 33 thousand MW. Explaining the reason behind this, he said that today a large number of people are cooking with electricity (induction etc.) to save LPG, due to which the consumption has increased. Taking a dig at SP, he said, “During the SP government, people used to dry clothes on electric wires because there was no electricity.”

Resolve to make Lucknow a ‘Global City’

Praising the changing picture of Lucknow at the function, the CM said that today even people coming from outside accept that Lucknow has now become a clean, beautiful and organized city. He appreciated the hard work of Lucknow Municipal Corporation, councilors and officials and called upon the citizens to support the administration in maintaining the cleanliness of the city. The ultimate goal of the government is to make Lucknow not only a ‘Smart City’ but also to recognize it as a ‘Global City’ with world class facilities.
