After six years, trains will once again come to a halt at Kanpur Central; not a single train will run for 24 hours. There will be a break on trains again at Kanpur Central after 6 years, not a single train will run for 24 hours

There is very important news for the passengers traveling at Kanpur Central, which is one of the busiest railway stations of UP. After six years, ‘No Train Day’ is going to happen once again at Kanpur Central Station on 21st June. On this day, not a single train will pass through the station from 6 or 8 am in the morning for the next 24 hours. Earlier, during the lockdown during the Corona period, the operation of trains from the Central Station was completely stopped from 22 March 2020 to 11 May 2020. However, this time this closure is not being done due to any epidemic, but to strengthen and modernize the railway infrastructure.

Why is there going to be ‘No Train Day’ at Kanpur Central?

According to the information received from the Railway Administration, interlocking work is to be done at Kanpur Central Station to connect the tracks and signals with modern technology. As per the schedule, pre-non interlocking and non-interlocking work will be carried out on war footing from June 11 to June 20. After this, June 21 has been fixed for carrying out the main interlocking work. Deputy CTM Akanshu Govil said that due to this important work, trains passing through the Central Station will be diverted to other stations.

Now computers will run trains, human errors will be completely controlled

Once this big block and non-interlocking work is completed, the operation of trains on Kanpur Central will completely change. This station, which till now was dependent on traditional electric system, will be equipped with a completely computerized system. The biggest advantage of this digital upgradation will be that the incidents of signal failure will end and the scope for human error in the electric system will be negligible. This will make the operation of trains safer and more timely than before.

Govindpuri station becomes a new hub for passengers, special arrangements made

In order to avoid inconvenience to the passengers during the closure of train operations for a day, Railways has prepared a complete outline of diversion, cancellation and partial cancellation (short terminated) of trains. During the closure of Central Station, passengers will have to go to Govindpuri station instead of Kanpur Central. Railways has made elaborate arrangements for drinking water and food items at Govindpuri station on June 21. Along with this, RPF and GRP have been put on high alert to ensure that there is no jam of vehicles in the service road and portico lane of the station and passengers are not disturbed. General Manager (GM) of North Central Railway, Naresh Pal Singh will also reach Kanpur on Wednesday to review these preparations and train diversion plan.
