The travel time from Delhi to the Noida International Airport being built in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh is being claimed to be so short that you will be surprised. Under a new and ambitious high-speed rail connectivity plan, the journey between Delhi and Noida International Airport will be completed in just 21 minutes in the future. Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta shared this important information during the review meeting of the projects of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
Government approved DPR
According to news agency PTI report, in a review meeting held in Lucknow on Thursday, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta said that the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) or Rapid Rail connecting Jewar Airport to Delhi. After getting approval from the state government, the DPR has now been sent to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Officials present in the meeting said that a unique provision has been included in the DPR prepared. Under this proposal, the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor will be directly connected to the airport terminal through a dedicated station. Once this high-speed connection becomes operational, the travel time between Delhi and Jewar airport will reduce to just 21 minutes.
A major freight hub and expressway connectivity
The Industrial Development Minister said that after the inauguration of Jewar Airport, the entire Yamuna Expressway area is set to emerge as a major cargo hub. Furthermore, to enhance the strategic importance of the region, the Yamuna Expressway is being directly connected to several other major corridors. According to officials, Yamuna Expressway is being connected to Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Ganga Expressway. This will transform the entire area.
New urban cities will be developed in Tappal-Bajna and Hathras.
During the review meeting, officials informed the Minister that a comprehensive master plan is being prepared for Hathras. The plan will include the development of a new urban city there. Yamuna Expressway will also be extended towards Agra via Hathras. Officials also said that plans for the development of a mega urban city spread over 4,700 acres at Tappal-Bajna are in progress.
Rapid industrial expansion is currently taking place in the Yeida area. According to officials, major projects like HCL-Foxconn’s semiconductor manufacturing unit, electronic manufacturing cluster, an apparel park, a medical device park, a toy park, an MSME park, a handicrafts park and a data park are under construction in the region.
Instructions for corporate-style work and AI training
Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta issued strict instructions to officials to improve their work culture and completely adapt it to the corporate style work model. He also directed to ensure proper maintenance and repair of damaged roads along the expressway.
He also directed that payment of land acquisition compensation should be made expeditiously through online medium so that delays can be avoided. The Minister clearly said that arrangements should be made to ensure that citizens do not have to visit various offices for No Objection Certificate (NOC) related to their plots and maps. He also directed the officials to make all the information related to the plot available online in real time and to provide artificial intelligence (AI) training to their employees keeping in mind the future needs.
