News India Live, Digital Desk: Raj Bhavan has taken a strong stance regarding the ‘session delay’ and ‘delay in results’ prevalent in the higher education sector of Bihar. Bihar Governor cum Chancellor Lieutenant General (Se) Syed Ata Hasnain has given clear orders to all the universities of the state that the academic sessions should be regularized at all costs. He has said in a strict tone that any kind of negligence in conducting examinations and releasing their results will no longer be accepted. This ‘strict action’ of the Chancellor has created a stir in the university administration.
Progress will be reviewed every week, report card will be ready.
According to the instructions issued by Raj Bhavan, the Chancellor will now hold a direct review meeting with two universities of the state every week. The main objective of this meeting will be to know the status of implementation of previous decisions and to get the pending results released as soon as possible. The Governor has made it clear that the officials who are playing with the future of the students will be held accountable. Instructions have also been given to the Education Department to immediately provide necessary manpower and resources to the universities.
Adherence to academic calendar is mandatory, action will be taken on violation
Delay in sessions has been a longstanding problem in Bihar universities, but now the Raj Bhavan has directed to strictly implement the ‘time-bound’ academic calendar. The Governor has ordered that:
The dates of the examination should be announced in advance and should not be changed.
The evaluation of copies should be completed in record time and uploaded on the result portal.
Students should not have to visit offices for degrees and certificates. The Chancellor made it clear that quality education and punctuality are his top priority.
Without 75% attendance, you will not be allowed to enter the exam.
Further tightening the rules, Raj Bhavan has reiterated that 75% attendance of students will be mandatory to fill the examination form. The Governor has directed colleges not to accept forms of students who have less attendance. However, in special circumstances, relaxation can be given only after proper investigation. The move is aimed at improving regular class conduct and academic environment in universities.
‘Zero tolerance’ policy in the interest of students
This decision of Raj Bhavan has been welcomed by student organizations and parents. This news is no less than a big relief for lakhs of students who have been waiting for the results for a long time. Experts believe that if this monitoring of the Chancellor continues, the credibility of the universities of Bihar will be restored and students will not have to turn to other states for higher education.
