What is the biggest worry of old age? When the body gets tired and there is no money in hand, then one has to depend on others even for small needs. But this will not happen now!

The government is going to implement a new and better pension scheme from 2026, which will become a ‘stick’ of old age for crores of elderly people, widowed mothers-sisters and disabled brothers and sisters of the country. Under this scheme, now you will be sent direct financial assistance of ₹ 1500 every month to your bank account, so that you can live your life with dignity.

What is this new pension scheme and who will get the benefit?

This scheme is for those who need support the most in the society.

  • Senior Citizens: Those who are 60 years of age or older.
  • Widows: Those who have to face financial difficulties after the death of their husbands.
  • Differently-abled: Those who are unable to earn due to physical disability.

What are the conditions for joining this scheme? (eligibility)

The government has kept the conditions very simple:

  • You must be a citizen of India.
  • Your age should be as per the respective category (eg 60 years for senior citizens).
  • You fall below the poverty line or your annual income is very low.
  • You should not already be availing major benefits of any other government pension scheme.

How to get ₹1500 every month?
In this new arrangement, the government is planning to increase the pension amount to ₹1500 per month. This money will be sent directly to your Aadhaar linked bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), without any middleman.

The government has made the application process very easy.

  1. Online Method (Sitting at home): You can fill the form online by visiting the official website of social security or pension of your state.
  2. Offline Method (Easiest): If you face difficulty in filling the online form, then just go to the nearest Jan Seva Kendra (CSC) or block office with all your required documents. The employee there will fill your form.

  • Death certificate of husband in case of widow
  • Certificate of Disability (if applicable)
