Minimum temperature below 10 degrees in many cities at night
Bhopal, 05 January: Madhya Pradesh is currently in the grip of severe cold, cold wave and dense fog. There was a blanket of fog across the state on Sunday morning, while on Monday the densest fog of this season was recorded in Bhopal. Visibility in the city reduced to less than 20 meters. On Sunday too, there was fog throughout the day, due to which normal life was affected. In view of the severe cold and fog, holiday has been declared in schools in 18 districts of the state. At the same time, the timing of schools has been changed in Bhopal and Dhar districts to provide relief to children from cold.
The effect of cold wave was seen in many districts including Gwalior, Datia, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Umaria, Rajgarh. According to the Meteorological Department, similar weather is likely to persist in the state for the next two days. On Monday morning, there was dense fog in Bhopal including Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Sehore, Raisen, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Tikamgarh, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Shahdol, Umaria and Katni. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of cold wave in Rajgarh, Datia, Chhatarpur and Umaria even during the day.

On January 6, there is a fog warning in Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Mauganj, Sidhi and Singrauli. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in many cities dropped below 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday night. 5 degrees were recorded in Rajgarh, 5.1 degrees in Datia, 6.4 degrees in Pachmarhi, 7 degrees in Shivpuri, 7.4 degrees in Ratlam, 7.6 degrees in Sheopur and Mandla, 8 degrees in Khajuraho, 9 degrees in Khandwa, 9.1 degrees in Guna, 9.2 degrees in Dhar and 9.4 degrees in Umaria. Gwalior was the coldest among the five big cities of the state, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.4 degrees. The temperature was 10.8 degrees in Bhopal, 11.8 degrees in Indore, 11.4 degrees in Ujjain and 11 degrees in Jabalpur.
Dense fog has also affected transportation. Many trains coming from Delhi, Malwa, Sachkhand and Shatabdi are running behind schedule. Due to fog, delays of up to one hour in flights have also been recorded at Bhopal Airport.
