New Delhi: While companies all over the world are burdening their employees with workload and causing them stress and obesity, a Chinese tech company has set such a unique example that you too will say – “I wish I too worked here!”
This company of Shenzhen city of China is not only motivating its employees to stay fit, but is also giving them a bonus of lakhs of rupees for losing weight. The company has also created a bonus fund of one million yuan (about Rs 1.24 crore) for this.
What is this ‘Weight Loss Challenge of Crores’?
This camera manufacturing company, named ‘Insta360’, has been running ‘Million Yuan Weight Loss Challenge’ for its employees for the last several years. The rules of this challenge are very simple and fun:
- Any employee of the company can register for this challenge.
- For every half kilogram (500 grams) of weight lost, the employee gets a direct bonus of 500 yuan (about Rs 6,200)!
- That is, lose 1 kg weight and get around Rs 12,400 extra in your salary.
But there is a twist in the story too!
This challenge is as beneficial as it is tough. If an employee regains the weight he had lost during the challenge, the company also fines him.
- Understand the mathematics of the fine: If you earned Rs 12,400 by losing 1 kg of weight, but later your weight gained back 1 kg, then you will have to pay a fine of 1600 Yuan (about Rs 19,840)!
However, the company says that till date no employee has paid the fine, which shows how seriously people are taking it.
An employee earned Rs 2.5 lakh in 3 months!
This year, this challenge came into limelight when a young (Gen-Z) employee named ‘G Yaki’ lost 20 kg of her weight in just 90 days!
For this amazing achievement, the company gave him the title of ‘Weight Loss Champion’ and also gave him a cash reward of 20,000 Yuan (about Rs 2.48 lakh).
Ji Yaki told that during this challenge, he exercised for one and a half hours every day and kept complete control over his diet. She says, “This is a great initiative not just for beauty, but to be conscious about your health.”
The company says that this unique initiative has created a very positive environment in the office and the employees are feeling happier and healthier than before.
