News India Live, Digital Desk: After the pink cold in Uttar Pradesh, now the days have started counting for the harsh winter. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that the state may have to face the double blow of cold wave and heavy fog in the coming few days. The effect of snowfall in the mountains is now visible on the plains, due to which the temperature will drop rapidly.

What does the weather department’s forecast say?

According to meteorologists, there will be a big change in the weather of Uttar Pradesh due to the icy north-westerly winds coming from the mountains.

  • Temperature will drop rapidly: The department estimates that the minimum temperature may drop to 8 degrees Celsius in the coming days, while the maximum temperature will also fall. Due to this, people will feel shivering even during the day.
  • Dense fog cover: As the cold increases, there is a possibility of dense fog in the morning and night in many parts of the state, especially in western UP. This will reduce visibility considerably, which will have a direct impact on traffic.
  • Cold wave alert: As soon as the minimum temperature drops below 10 degrees and it is 4-5 degrees below normal, the Meteorological Department can declare a cold wave. There is a strong possibility of it starting from Western UP.

More impact will be seen in Western UP

The biggest and first impact of this change in weather will be seen in the districts of western Uttar Pradesh like Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Meerut, Bijnor and surrounding areas. After this, this cold will gradually engulf the entire state. A drop of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius may be recorded in the temperature in the capital Lucknow and areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

be wary

In view of this change, the Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert.

  • Take care of health: There is a need to take special care of children and the elderly in the increasing cold. Wear warm clothes and avoid consuming cold things.
  • Be careful while driving: Dense fog increases the risk of accidents on the roads. Drivers are advised to use fog lights and control speed.

This year, cold weather is expected to be more severe in Uttar Pradesh, hence it would be wise to prepare well in time.
