News India Live, Digital Desk: Security forces have achieved a major success in the dense forests of East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. The police have discovered the weapons and explosives that the Naxalites had hidden underground with the intention of committing a major crime. This recovery is considered a big blow for the Naxalites.

This action was taken in the hilly forests near Mejhiyabandha village of Gudabandha police station area of the district. Security forces had received intelligence that Naxalites had hidden a large quantity of arms and ammunition in this area.

This is how the entire operation went

Based on this intelligence, a joint team of CRPF, Cobra Battalion and District Police was formed and a search operation was started in the entire area. After hours of searching, the team found a cave-like area under a rock, which was cleverly hidden. When the soldiers opened it, they too were surprised to see the sight inside.

What was found in the ‘goods of death’?

The Naxalites had made this secret hideout like a small arms depot. The material found here was enough to cause a major devastation. Items recovered included:

  • 14 Pipe Bomb (IED): These are used to target security forces.
  • INSAS LMG’s 6 magazines
  • 69 live cartridges
  • 2 country made pistols
  • 10 electronic detonator
  • about 50 meters codex wire (wire used in making bombs)
  • 1 kg gunpowder
  • Maoist literature, bag, radio and torch

District Superintendent of Police (SSP) confirmed this recovery and called it a major success of the team. Obviously, these weapons were to be used to attack security forces or carry out some major violent incident. But this timely action of the police has foiled the dangerous plans of the Naxalites. The anti-Naxal campaign being run in this area of Kolhan-Saranda is continuously bearing fruit.
