India’s benchmark index increased on Thursday under the leadership of government-owned companies and non-bank lender Bajaj Finance, while the decline in Tata Motors was limited. The auto index fell 1.2% due to a decline in the third quarter profit, Tata Motors fell nearly 8.5%, its luxury Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) segment led to weakness and domestic car sales declined.
Contrary to an increase of 2.6% from the previous season, the IT index fell 0.5%. Nine out of the 13 major areas saw a positive attitude in the beginning, domestically focused small-cap and mid-cap stocks gained 0.5% and 0.4% respectively.
