The Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved two important deals on Wednesday to further strengthen the Pinaka Multi-Lanch Artillery Rocket System built in India. The total value of these deals is around Rs 10,200 crore, after which the capacity of the Pinaka rocket system will become more deadly than ever.
The first deal is worth Rs 5,700 crore, including high-exclusive pre-fragmented rocket ammunition. The second deal is worth Rs 4,500 crore, including the area dinyal ammunition. The deal is for 10 Pinaka Regiment already ordered by the Indian Army, which are extremely essential for the Indian Army.
The strike range of high-exclusive pre-fragmented rocket is up to 45 km, while the area dinyal ammunition can be launched for a distance of 37 km. Area dinyal ammunition also includes anti-tank and anti-Perception Minlets.
Both these types of ammunition will be formed by private sector company Solar Group and government company Emunis India Limited in the ratio of 60:40. These deals with these two companies will be signed in the next few days.
Currently the Indian Army has four Pinaka Regiment, some of which have been deployed in high areas along the north border with Launcher China. The induction of the remaining six regiments is in the process.
According to the Times of India report, DRDO has developed a variety of rocket ammunitions for Pinaka, including a 45 -km range and a 75 -km guided range. There is a plan to increase its range by 120 km in future, and then a target is to increase it by 300 km.
Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi said earlier this month, “As soon as we get a long range, we can stop considering other alternative long range weapons and focus on Pinaka.” This deal will significantly increase the capabilities of the Indian Army, and the Pinaka system will be made even more effective and fatal.
