Sheikh Sajjad Gul: The Resistance Front (TRF), affiliated with Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir. Six migrant laborers including a doctor died in this attack on Sunday. According to sources, TRF chief Sheikh Sajjad Gul is the mastermind of this attack. It was on Gul's request that his local gang carried out this incident. This is the first time that Kashmiris and non-Kashmiris have been targeted together. TRF was also mentioned in the murder of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari. Jammu and Kashmir Police has identified 3 people involved in this murder. Two people involved in the attack were residents of South Kashmir and the third was a Pakistani citizen.
TRF, the cover organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was formed by Sheikh Sajjad Gul in the year 2019. However, the conspiracy to bring this organization into existence was going on across the border. TRF has been active in Kashmir for a long time. Its gang has targeted Kashmiri Pandits, Sikhs and outsiders. The last one and a half years have seen a change in the tactics of this group which had earlier killed many Kashmiri Pandits. According to the report, recce was being conducted by the terrorist group at the attack site in Ganderbal for the last one month. With such complete planning, the construction site in Sonamarg area of the district was targeted. Sources said that 2 to 3 terrorists were sent to carry out this target killing.
Indiscriminate firing on laborers returning to camp
When the laborer was returning to his camp late on Sunday evening in Gund area of Ganderbal district, terrorists attacked him. They fired indiscriminately, killing both locals and outsiders. Officials said 2 workers died on the spot, while 4 other injured workers and a doctor later succumbed to their injuries. 5 injured are undergoing treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area and started a search operation to nab the attackers. Meanwhile, a 4-member team of Anti-Terrorism Unit and National Investigation Agency (NIA) will visit the incident site on Monday afternoon. The responsibility of investigating the attack can be handed over to NIA.
TRF is continuously targeting non-Kashmiris
Meanwhile, two non-local civilians were killed in Kashmir in February. Meanwhile, the NIA filed a charge sheet in August against a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, including four members of the TRF. According to the NIA, the chargesheet was filed against accused Adil Manzoor Langu, Ahran Rasool Dar alias Tota, Dawood and Pakistani terrorist Jahangir alias Peer Sahab under various sections of the IPC and UA(P) Act. A special NIA court in Jammu has already issued a non-bailable warrant against absconding accused Jahangir alias Peer Sahab. All 4 accused belonging to TRF were involved in the killing of two civilians in Karfali locality of Shala Kadal, Srinagar on the evening of 7 February. The NIA took over the case in June this year and registered the case again.
