News India Live, Digital Desk: A joint team of police and guards in Garhwa district of Jharkhand has carried out one of the biggest actions against cow-smuggling so far. In a large operation run late at night, about 500 cows were rescued from the clutches of smugglers from 14 trucks. These cows were very mercilessly filled with trucks and were being taken to West Bengal through smuggling.

How to get success?

The police had received intelligence that a large number of cows were ready to be taken to Bengal via Garhwa via trucks. On this information, the team of police and local guards together laid a trap in several different police station areas of the district.

As soon as these trucks passed through these areas late at night, the team stopped them. When the tarpaulin of the trucks was removed, the inside view was heartbreaking. In a truck, 30 to 40 cows were filled with animals, without feeding, without feeding. The condition of many cows was very bad and they could not stand properly.

Driver and Khalasi absconding, police engaged in investigation

As soon as this action of the police came to know, the driver and Khalasi of most trucks managed to escape from the spot by taking advantage of the darkness. However, the police have seized all 14 trucks and cows laden in them. All the cows rescued have been taken safely to local cowsheds, where their fodder and treatment are being arranged.

The police have registered a case against unknown smugglers under the Animal Cruelty Prevention Act and other related sections. The police are now trying to reach the kingpin of this large smuggling racket based on the numbers of the seized trucks and other clues. This major action has caused a stir in the network of animal smugglers.
